The first month of the Southeastern Conference schedule is nearly in the books and Mississippi State is still in search of its first series win.
The Bulldogs have won one game in each of their first three series and are currently tied in the standings with their weekend opponent Vanderbilt. The three game set with the Commodores begins tonight at 6:30 p.m.
MSU owns a 62-38-1 lead in the overall series against Vandy but the Commodores have claimed 12 of the last 13 meetings. The Diamond Dogs won the Sunday finale 9-8 last season in Nashville to snap Vanderbilt's current streak. State is 33-18 in the series in Starkville.
It will be just the third road trip for the Commodores this season and are 0-7 away from the Music City so far this season.
Last season State was shutout of the first two games by a combined score of 14-0 before winning the final game on Sunday. The Bulldogs had just seven combined hits in games one and two but their bats woke up for game three with 11 knocks including Jarrod Parks 3-for-4 days with one home run and two RBIs.
