Mullen talking Crimson Tide

Mississippi State has had its chances to take down top teams this fall.

But time after time the Bulldogs have fallen short against Auburn, LSU, Georgia and South Carolina. Dan Mullen's squad will get another crack at a ranked opponent this weekend hosting No. 3 Alabama.

"Obviously we're excited about this game," Mullen said. "It's an opportunity for our guys to play one of the top teams in the nation and one of the great programs in college football. We expect a huge home crowd and need everybody in the state of Mississippi making as much noise as they can to give us that home field advantage and every edge that we can possibly get to put ourselves in position to win the game."

The Crimson Tide are considered one of the nation's elite teams this season and are coming off a heartbreaking loss to top-ranked LSU 9-6 in overtime last week in a game hyped as the 'game of the century'.

Mullen's teams have fought hard in games against top quality opponents under his watch but Saturday's game would be the marquee victory in his three-years if MSU can pull off the upset.
