Magical season for Malone

Justin Malone's decision to play football his senior year at Madison Ridgeland Academy has paid off in more than one way.

Not only did the Patriots reach the Class AAA Div. 1 title game but he also earned a Mississippi State scholarship offer in the process.

"The year overall was better than I expected it to be," Malone said. "When I made the decision to join the football team some people told me I was making the best decision of my life and others told me I didn't want to play for Coach (Mack) Norwood. But it was a lot better than I was told it was going to be. We didn't get to where we wanted to be which was state champions."

Malone did not waste any time taking the Bulldogs up on their offer. In fact he committed on the spot.

"They are having a great year this year," Malone said. "I'm glad they chose me to be one of the guys they are bringing on to the football team next year. I'm happy that I committed and am going to be there to hopefully help them win more games."

Since his commitment a month ago things have finally started to go back to normal.
