Sanders set for solid second year in Starkville

Ricco Sanders was one of seven wide receivers Mississippi State inked in the class of 2009 and was the last signee to enroll in August.

That late arrival essentially forced the talented wideout into a redshirt season but Sanders is poised to make an impact on the Bulldogs offense in year two.

"My expectations for next year are to do whatever I can to help my team," Sanders said. "We want to go to Atlanta and have all got the same mindset of wanting to play. We've just got to come out and work hard every day."

MSU began striving for that goal Tuesday with the start of spring practice. Sanders is one of many redshirt freshmen trying to earn their spot onto the depth chart.

"It felt good to get back out there," Sanders said. "We've been waiting around and working hard the whole offseason and training well. It just felt good to step out on the grass."

If Sanders had his preferences, he would have came in and played right away. But now having redshirted all of 2009 he feels that it will be beneficial and may have already helped him transition into the SEC.
