January 31, 2007Florida State gained commitment no. 13 when Mobile (AL) B.C. Rain offensive lineman Rodney Hudson opted for Florida State.
Hudson previously committed to West Virginia when offensive line coach Rick Trickett when he was a member of the Mountaineer coaching staff. When Trickett left, he continued to recruit Hudson as the once solid commitment explored other options. This past weekend took an official visit to Florida State.
Between his visit and his relationship with Trickett, Hudson knew all he had to know and decided to change his commitment to Florida State according to the Mobile Press Register.
"I think they had a real close bond," B.C. Rain coach Anthony Shamburger told the Press-Register of Hudson and Trickett. "He went over last weekend and he's sold on Florida State. He said the stadium looked like a castle."
The three-star offensive lineman spoke of that close bond in a previous interview with Warchant.com.
"He's the same ol' person," joked Hudson. "He likes football, knows football, has a good personality and is a good coach."
Hudson was first-team all-state this past season. He graded 95 percent on his blocking with 47 pancakes and also played defense, recording 55 tackles as an interior lineman.
The 6-foot-2, 276-pound guard/center was scheduled for an official visit to Morgantown this weekend to check out West Virginia but that visit is likely off the schedule now. Shamburger said Alabama had also shown interest in Hudson the last few weeks but did not extend an offer. He had also previously visited Southern Mississippi.
Warchant.com will have more on Hudson's commitment later today.
