June 23, 2005The EA SPORTS Elite 11 selection process is now at the halfway point, with six invitees having been announced and six more to come following the June 25th workout in Las Vegas.
Today marks the fourth edition of the EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Tracker Top 100, a list of the nation's top 100 quarterbacks and also included this week is a preview of Saturday's EA SPORTS Elite 11 workout in Las Vegas!
Six spots for the final EA SPORTS Elite 11 will be up for grabs this Saturday in Las Vegas as some of the nation's best come together in what should be a talented-laden workout at UNLV.
Headlining the group of attendees are a handful of signal callers that have already made their college decisions - rifle-armed Matthew Stafford out of Dallas (Texas) Highland Park, a Georgia commit, Stephenville (Texas) and Florida commit Jevan Snead, Mechanicsburg (Pa.) and Notre Dame pledge Zach Frazer, athletic Grandview (Mo.) and Nebraska committed Josh Freeman and Alex Cate out of Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood, who recently chose LSU.
Snead and Frazer are both coming back from minor injuries that forced them to miss the NIKE Camps in their region, and Stafford will also be throwing for the first time in front of the EA SPORTS Elite 11 selection crew.
Also making their respective first appearances at camps this spring will be perhaps the top quarterback in the West, Jake Locker from Ferndale (Wash.) and the athletic Demetrius Jones from Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park, who will be hoping to join his friend and fellow Southside Chicago resident Isiah Williams, who has already received an invite, at the final EA SPORTS Elite 11 in late July.
Several players with offers in hand will also be returning for second looks, including Southlake (Texas) Carroll's Greg McElroy, who has collected half a dozen scholarship offers based on strong camp showings despite throwing just 30 passes last fall.
Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt slinger Jeremy Ricker will also be on hand after spending some time recently checking out the campus of the Oregon Ducks on a West Coast swing.
Speaking of Oregon, Beaverton High quarterback Kevin Riley has had some strong showings at camps lately and hopes continue his surge to prominence with a good performance on Saturday.
Some other players to watch for who could improve their chances with a big day include Hilmar (Calif.) QB Nathan Costa, Henderson (Ky.) County QB Will Fidler, Auburn (Calif.) Placer QB Greg Denham, Houston (Texas) Cy Falls QB J.P. Tillman and Northport (Ala.) American Christian QB Chris Smelley.
