December 17, 2003The Atlantic East area is always loaded with high school talent and this recruiting year is no different. While the state of Pennsylvania dominates this list with 24 players, it's also a very good year in North Carolina and Maryland.
Defensive tackle DeMario Pressley (right) headlines this group as the No. 1 defensive tackle and No. 6 player in the country.
The updated Atlantic East Amazing 80 boasts 17 of the top 100 players in the country and 13 linebackers led by Penn State commitment Dan Connor and New Jersey star Brian Toal.
How exciting would it be to see QB Anthony Morelli hook up with ATH Dwayne Jarrett or WR Doug Dutch or watch FB Dwayne Jones or tailback Andrew Johnson run behind Pennsylvania studs Kyle Mitchum and Greg Harrison?
On the defensive side of the ball, rush ends Derrick Harvey and George Covington, both teammates at Greenbelt (Md.) Eleanor Roosevelt, would flank Pressley and fellow North Carolina standout Marque Hall while Toal, Connor and James Bryant would be free to search and destroy.
And if you dared to throw the ball on this team, Carolina corners Trimane Goddard and Rod Council would man up with help from safeties Devon Lyons and Kent Hicks.
The Atlantic East Amazing 80 has an embarrasment of riches and could match up well with any other regional team in the country. Here's our final list from one to 80.
