In one season with the Bulldogs, Isham played in 10 games, was 155-for-257 passing for 1,457 yards and eight touchdowns with seven interceptions. He also ran the ball 49 times for negative 19 yards and two touchdowns. Last season, he started seven games at quarterback and saw action in the Poinsettia Bowl as a receiver.
Isham had practiced with the Bulldogs through last Friday's ninth practice of the spring and was second on the team's depth chart behind rising redshirt senior Colby Cameron.
Cameron will guide the offense as Tech holds its 10th practice of the spring at 4 p.m. this afternoon. The Bulldogs will practice unless there is lightning in the area. Zach Griffith is expected to work with the second team offense while Taylor Burch is spending the spring with the baseball team, primarily as the starting right fielder.
Tech will be in need for more depth at the quarterback position after the departure of Isham from the program. One place they may find that depth is from Dykes' alma mater, Texas Tech, in the form of former 4-star quarterback Scotty Young who recently left the Red Raider program. Dykes recruited Young when he was the offensive coordinator at Arizona.
The departure of Isham and the existing relationship between Young and Dykes should help the Bulldogs. Young is also being pursued by North Texas.
