July 20, 2011Henry County (Paris, Tenn.) High School's Andrew Jelks started his summer wanting to take several visits in order to make his decision before the summer concluded. But with each passing visit and new interest, that timeframe may be harder to complete.
Owning numerous SEC offers, the 6-foot-6 and 265-pound offensive lineman said he isn't sure now when decision time may arrive for him.
"It is harder than I thought it would be," said Jelks. "And there is a lot more stress. I visited a lot of schools this summer and I like all of them. I have no real favorites and I am still looking at Tennessee, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Ole Miss and Stanford. But I may need to take a few more visits early in the season so I can sit down and talk with these coaches again. So it may be in late August or September before I decide."
Having visited all those schools he listed above, Jelks said another SEC program is showing interest of late as well.
"I am likely through visiting schools but I may go to an LSU camp in late July," said Jelks. "They want to see me before deciding whether or not to offer me. So I may go to their camp and see what happens."
And then Jelks said he would soon start making out his fall plans to possibly catch these teams in action before making his final decision.
"I would like to see Tennessee, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Alabama this fall," said Jelks. "So I may go to some of their early games so I can be around those programs a bit more."
Of course, Jelks also has his own season to focus on in the near future. Fall camp will soon arrive and Jelks said he is already going through preparations for his senior campaign at Henry County High School.
"One reason I am not taking many visits the rest of this month is because we are getting into more of our team workouts," said Jelks. "I have been focused more on my weight this summer. I am around 265 pounds right now and I want to open the season at 270 or 275 pounds. I believe I can achieve that goal and I want to make my last season in high school the best it can be."
