Yesterday the Gamecocks received the good news they were hoping for when Rockingham (N.C.) Richmond County middle linebacker Melvin Ingram made it through the admissions process. The importance of Ingram gaining freshman eligibility cannot be underestimated. In 2008, the South Carolina defense will have to replace it's best player in preseason All-SEC and Nagurski Trophy candidate Jasper Brinkley, who took the SEC by storm last season, as one of the most dominant defenders in the league. In today's column, we take a look at the impact Ingram is expected to make on the Gamecock program.
