Post-spring analysis: Quarterbacks
West Virginia has the best quarterback depth in the history of the football program and this season, in the NCAA.
Pat White continued to dominate the schedule in 2006 until he got nicked up at the end of the regular campaign. Working on one wheel, he commandeered a near-comeback at Louisville and then pulled the Mountaineers out of the Gator sand to topple Georgia Tech in Jacksonville.
He is healthy. He is a three-year starter. He will split Heisman votes with good friend and All-American tailback Steve Slaton.
He has readjusted offensive looks around college football and down through the high schools where several 2008 WVU recruits want to be the next PW.
His quiet demeanor in front of television cameras is beset by a fierce desire to win. He will have to be dragged off the field.
That said, Jarrett Brown's effort in lieu of White in the Rutgers Gator Bowl-clinching victory at Milan Puskar Stadium, made him the successor to PW, when and if White leaves for the NFL or Major League baseball.
