Video: Caleb King open up
All signees are important and each prospect has a role, but arguably the biggest prospect that signed with Georgia last week was running back Caleb King. King held over 50 scholarship offers before choosing UGA in November. King is a very quiet and reserved young man, but he really opened up to UGASports.com after signing with the Dawgs last week.
At one time or another, every major program in the country came after Rivals100 running back Caleb King. King was one of the most prestigious prospects out there in the class of 2007. Over 50 schools offered him a scholarship and he chose to stay home at Georgia in the end.
Before making somewhat of a surprise commitment to Georgia in November, many had him as a lock to Auburn University. Rumors about King being a "silent commitment" to Auburn started early and they even went through signing day. That is one of the things King talks about in this interview. Just how those started, if their was ever any truth to that, and more.
King may put up big time numbers, make some amazing plays on the field, but he is a very humble and quiet young man. He just stays to himself, takes care of his business, and doesn't get caught up in all the media.
Interviews with King have been rare over the past 6 months as recruiting really heated up for King, but he graciously took the time to sit down with UGASports.com last Wednesday after signing his letter of intent with the University of Georgia.
It was a much different King this time as the interview got rolling where he begin to open up. He answered questions about the Auburn rumors, how they started, why he chose Georgia, when he started leaning that way, how he trusts Coach Richt, how UGA running back Knowshon Moreno played into his decision, how Georgia plans to use him, and a lot more.
This interview with one of the premier players in the country is a must see for Dawg fans. King took the time to answer questions and talk with us about a lot of different subjects, so check out this exclusive video interview right here.
If you were not able to view the video at this time, then here are a few quotes from King. The entire interview is not typed here, so make sure you watch the video to see exactly what King says and how he says it.
"It is a lot less stressful now that [signing day] is over with. It is like I am coming into a new family [at Georgia]. I just can't wait to get up there."
"Coach Richt told me he was happy to have me in the family. He just told to prepare and to be in condition, so when I get out there I can compete for a job."
"I would say [I felt Georgia was the place for me] from the beginning - I just kept it in. I always knew I wanted to go to Georgia."
"Georgia was the only place I have been to that I kept really comfortable."
"I just came home and felt it (that he was ready to commit to UGA) and I was ready to get it over with."
"I called Coach Bobo and just told him that I wanted to be part of the family and to be a Georgia Bulldog."
"To me, Coach Ball is laid back. He is not an all in your face guy. I just want a comfortable atmosphere to learn in."
