Pryor displays team skills in win
The Jeannette basketball team, led by junior Terrelle Pryor, had its closest win on Tuesday night, picking up a 52-49 win at West Shamokin. The two teams met just six days ago at Jeannette, with the Jayhawks winning by 23 points. Pryor contributed 26 points and 10 rebounds in the win, but proved to be most beneficial setting up shots for his teammates, blocking shots, and coming up with steals.
Despite the impressive numbers on paper, it hasn't all been easy to this point for this group. This basketball team has only been at work for five weeks. Every single person on the roster also played on the state runner-up football team, whose season ended on December 16. Plus, there is only one senior on this team, DeVonte Shannon. On top of that, the team has been making up games that were postponed because of the lengthy football season.
It hasn't been an easy start, but looking at this 11-3 record and the team's average margin of victory, one would never know. Of all the wins this season, head coach Jim Nesser felt tonight's three-point win was the team's best performance of the season.
