Big leader for Benn
Washington, D.C., Dunbar wide receiver Arrelious Benn is a straight shooter and doesn't mind telling folks where he stands when it comes to his recruitment. So it's no big surprise when he told us that Notre Dame is his leader. However, the size of that lead might be surprising.
Benn, the nation's No. 2 wide receiver and No. 19 player overall, has narrowed his list of schools down to five and has a decision date of Sept. 8, his birthday, firmly set in his mind.
"That will be the date," he said. "And my final five are Notre Dame, Southern Cal, Florida State, Maryland and Illinois."
However, Benn admits that some schools are a longer shot than others.
"I recently visited Illinois for the second time and I really like it there, but it's going to take more than one player to turn that program around," he said. "Coach Locksley is a great recruiter and a good guy, but you could say they're trailing a bit."
