Young Bruins to be tested
The University of Tennessee football players are still trying to figure out how you can intercept the opposing quarterback four times in a game and still wind up losing it. UT All-American candidate Eric Berry thinks the team eased up and let that one get away. And he also thinks the season went with it.
The Vols also have to believe that home field provided the Bruins with an advantage that allowed them to get over the top. The Bruins have won just as many games as they have lost (12) against SEC teams. The record against Tennessee is 5-7-2 but Tennessee is 5-1-2 in games played in Knoxville.
Tennessee has a new coaching staff this year with a heavily USC flavor so the game will have some aspects of a rivalry game. The Vols have No. 1 Florida looming on the horizon, but if anyone is to take them seriously heading into that contest, a win Saturday is a must. And former Trojan coaches, head coach Lane Kiffin and assistant head coach Ed Orgeron know all about that and are working to whip up the expected Vol crowd of 100,000 plus into a frenzy by Saturday afternoon's 4 pm EDT kickoff.
