Tenn. Running back hoping for Army offer
As it has been reported previously, Orleans Darkwa out of Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth High School is one of the top running backs recruits coming out of the state of Tennessee.
Despite already having the size (5-foot-11, 200 pounds), stats (1,952 yards, 21 rushing touchdown and 2 receiving touchdowns) and highlights that typically have offers flowing in, the explosive runner is still looking to pull in his first offer.
And as Darkwa closes out his summer of hitting the football camp circuit and begins to concentrates on his senior season, by all accounts, receiving his first offer might be just a matter of time.
The Black Knights of Army are one school that will be keeping a close eye on Darkwa. "I spoke to Coach Brock this week and he was just catching up with me," shares Darkwa. "We were talking about how things are going at my school and what I'm doing right now
. Like 7-on-7's. He gave me a realistic statement, when he said he wants me to send in my game film of my first game which is against Oakland. He was saying that I'm at the top of their board, but they want to see the film and if good enough, I will get an offer."
After camping at Tennessee and Louisville, Darkwa hopes that his performance has caught the attention of the coaches from both schools. "I went Tennessee on June 2nd and Louisville last week with my parents," details Darkwa, who runs a consistent forty at 4.53, which he displayed at the Vanderbilt and Louisville camps. "At Louisville's camp, which mostly offensively, but they were seeing how physical I was on one-on-ones and they tried me out at linebacker. They said did pretty well, but I know what they are going to do with that."
Although he doesn't have any favorites right now, Darkwa has made it clear that he is looking at every team, but will look heavy at those schools that offer me.
Presently, Darkwa is focused on Ensworth's team workouts, which consist of lifting and preparing for their two-a-day practices. Darkwa's individual speed workouts have been worth the investment, as he was quick to share that his forty times lowered at each camp that he participated in this summer.
Along with being the featured back, the powerful running is starting to get reps at the bandit (linebacker) position and is slowly working that role onto his resume.
GoBlackKnights.com will continue to follow Darkwa's recruiting throughout the summer and his senior season.
