Big addition for Penn State
Penn State recently received their tenth commitment from the Class of 2010 and it was a big one.
The good news came from Johnson City, New York offensive guard Daquan Jones, currently a three-star lineman and ranked the No. 14 prospect at his position in the nation by Rivals.com.
"I just felt really comfortable up there," Jones relayed in a phone interview early Sunday afternoon.
"I was up there at their camp and just on the field, and coach (Larry) Johnson made me feel comfortable. I liked the way he was coaching me. I really liked the stadium and the academic people up there. I liked them a lot. So after all that I called my dad and asked them if it was alright (to commit) and he said okay.
"Coach Johnson was pretty excited," he laughed. "He started doing his little jump around dance."
Jones went on to discuss the opportunity he will have once he arrives on campus.
"They said if I work hard it's possible for me to play as a freshman and work my way into the rotation."
Despite the commitment Jones might have more decisions to make. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound lineman from the Empire State isn't sure if the recruiting process is over for good.
"I'm really not sure about that," he said. "I'm gonna be talking to my coach about all that Monday. We'll see what we're gonna do about that soon. I don't know about visits or anything right now."
