Bulldogs offer three-star quarterback
Two of Mississippi State's top quarterback targets have made commitments to other programs within the last week.
But the Bulldogs have recently offered another top signal caller in three-star Devin Burns from Columbus, Ga. BulldogBlitz spoke with the 6-foot-2, 172-pounder and found out what he thinks about his MSU offer.
"I talked to Coach David Turner and he confirmed that it was official," Burns said. "They said they had felt good about me for a while and wanted me to come down there and see the campus. That was really my first time talking to him but he seems like a really good guy. I can't say that I really know a lot about Mississippi State. They are in the SEC and everybody in the SEC plays good ball. They are kind of on the slip right now but they are getting there."
Burns admitted that he had not followed the career of State head coach Dan Mullen before receiving the offer three weeks ago. But has since done some investigating and liked what he saw with the former offensive coordinator's success with former quarterbacks Alex Smith, Chris Leak and Tim Tebow.
"I really haven't followed Coach Mullen but I started to do a little research," Burns said. "I know some of his history. I do feel special to be one of the quarterbacks that he offered. I feel special with every offer that I get. They spend money on me just to bring me to their school and I appreciate that."
Mississippi State has plenty of competition for Burns' services. He has offers from UAB, Arkansas, Georgia, Maryland, Southern Miss, Vanderbilt and Troy as well.
