More than a year later David Amerson of Greensboro (N.C.)-Dudley can laugh now when he thinks about it.

Amerson was another in a line of hot shot basketball players just messing around in the school's gymnasium one day, throwing down dunk after dunk in hiking boots when Dudley football coach Steve Davis took notice of his feats from an office off the gym floor.
