Gamecock commit has plenty of options
One of the key early pieces of South Carolina's 2010 recruiting class is Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines wide receiver Sean Tapley. Tapley terms his commitment to South Carolina as a soft verbal and is open to other options. Throughout this spring he has certainly picked up plenty of other options.
"I have new offers from North Carolina, Ole Miss, Louisville, West Virginia and Southern Miss," Tapley said. "I like Ole Miss and Southern Miss and North Carolina too. They have got pretty good offenses and they've been winning teams the past couple of years."
Those new offers join a list that already included schools such as Miami, Purdue, Illinois and FIU. Among all his offers, there are a few schools that Tapley will keep an eye on that may be able to compete with South Carolina for his signature.
"There's a couple that I like," he said. "I like Miami, I like Ole Miss, North Carolina, Southern Miss and I like Purdue a little bit."
With a commitment already behind him, what is the factor that could be most influential in swaying him from the Gamecocks?
"When it's all said and done, I'm pretty much going to look at the depth chart and see what school I have the best opportunity to get playing time at," he said.
Tapley plans to learn more about the programs recruiting him this summer as he hits up the camp circuit. There are three schools in particular that he hopes to camp at that he has yet to receive an offer from and he also plans on spending plenty of time at South Carolina.
"I have a couple of ideas," he said. "I was thinking about going to Florida and Florida State and possibly Georgia. With South Carolina I'm pretty much going to go on a lot of unofficial visits there this summer."
Before summer kicks into full gear, Tapley has his spring season to finish up and it closes with a jamboree on Tuesday. With his team steadily improving, Tapley has focused on improving himself personally as well.
"I feel like I'm getting better," he said. "I'm really working on my blocking. That's something I've been working on because I feel like everything else I'm straight at."
