Milton has two schools at the top
In back-to-back recruiting classes, the Wisconsin Badgers landed two highly-touted quarterback prospects in Curt Phillips and Jon Budmayr.
With a young quarterback group now on campus, it's imperative to add depth at the skill positions to compliment them. With Kraig Appleton and Jeff Duckworth set to arrive on campus this summer, Wisconsin is looking to add one or two more wide outs in the current junior class.
Last week, BadgerBlitz.com caught up with one of those prospects to discuss his current recruitment and interest in the Badgers.
"Well, I got an offer from Wisconsin early in March," said Matt Milton, a 6-foot-6, 197-pound wide receiver. "I was pretty excited when that offer came in. That's a big-time program."
Milton, who hails from Mascoutah, Ill., also holds offers from Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota and Tennessee.
"Coach (Dave) Doeren is my recruiting coach," Milton explained. "Coach Doeren actually came to one of my basketball games, as well. I haven't been to Madison yet. I was planning on hitting up their junior day but the weather was pretty bad. Wisconsin was in my top five, but I actually haven't talked to anyone from Wisconsin in awhile."
While Wisconsin's interest has seemed to taper off a bit in the eyes of Milton, two schools standout, one of which is conference-rival Illinois.
"I'd say Illinois and Tennessee probably stand out the most," he said. "I went to junior days at Illinois, Iowa and Kansas State. I felt the most comfortable around the staffs at Kansas State and Illinois.
"I talk to those two schools the most, that's why I feel so comfortable around them. I think they were the first two schools to offer me a scholarship. I assume I'll be making a trip to Tennessee this summer because I haven't made it down there yet."
Milton is also garnering strong interest from Notre Dame and Missouri.
