UMKC coach breaks down KU, NDSU
Matt Brown was named the eighth head men's basketball coach at UMKC on April 12, 2007. Brown comes to Kansas City after serving as an assistant coach at West Virginia University for the past five seasons. During his first season as head coach of the Kangaroos, Brown not only squared off against Kansas, but faced North Dakota State (two times), the Jayhawks opponent in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Jayhawk Slant spoke to Brown about Fridays match up between Kansas and North Dakota State, which is scheduled to tip-off at 11:30 AM CST from the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
Brown is more than qualified to talk about the North Dakota State basketball program. Two times this season, the Kangaroos and Bison hooked up on the hardwood. The first meeting, which took place in Kansas City, Mo., on January 16, went to North Dakota State, 65-60 in overtime.
