Five-star OL recaps visits
Indianapolis (Ind.) Plainfield offensive tackle James Hurst took a swing down south recently to visit a couple of ACC programs that he has been hearing from for quite some time.
Hurst unofficially visited Duke and North Carolina -- two Tobacco Road rivals known more for their basketball than football, but also two schools that have improved on the recruiting trail of late with David Cutcliffe and Butch Davis, respectively.
"I went to both places and it went really well," Hurst said on Thursday evening. "Both were good. I spent about six hours with all the coaches learning about what they have to offer.
"I feel like I learned a lot about each school. I was at Duke last Friday and then the next day I went over to North Carolina. I like both schools a lot."
What else does the five-star lineman have lined up for the near future?
"Well, I think I'm going to be at Georgia, Tennessee and Florida from March 30-April 3," he said. "After those visits I might take a trip to Ohio State, but I'm not sure.
"After that I'm going to try to get my list down to around ten (schools) or so, then go from there. I really don't know who will be on (the list) and who won't. That's a decision I'll have to make when the time comes."
Hurst said he has no favorites and is open to all of the schools that have offered thus far.
He also said he has been making progress in the weight room. His bench press is up to 340 pounds and he is now squatting 520 pounds. Hurst has also run the 40-yard dash in 5.06 seconds.
All of that helps explain how he earned the No. 8 spot on the Rivals100 list.
