KU stands alone at top
Monday nights first place showdown between No. 15 ranked Kansas (23-5; 12-1) and No. 3 ranked Oklahoma (25-3; 11-2) was as good as advertised. In fact, the highly anticipated match up between the Jayhawks and Sooners was an instant classic and one of the best games played since the inception of the Big 12 conference. OU stuck first blood by building a 14-point lead. However, KU responded with a 16-0 in the first half and led, 36-29 at halftime.
The Jayhawks eventually built their lead to 20-points in the second half but the Sooners stormed back and go to within three-points. Late in the game, Sherron Collins was absolutely sensational, and refused to let the lead slip away. As the buzzer sounded, Bill Self and the Jayhawks left the court with an 87-78 victory, and sole possession of first place in the Big 12.
