Brunetti has options
Memphis University quarterback Barry Brunetti, 6-foot-2 210 lbs, will be one of the top quarterbacks in to state of Tennessee next season. This past season Brunetti lead the Owls to a Division 2 state Championship by defeating Brentwood Academy 38-18.
In that game he was named the Most Valuable Offensive Player, passing for 207 yards and four touchdowns on 12-of-27 passes. He also rushed for 85 yards. Brunetti is a strong and physical quarterback who has the quickness to take off if the pass isn't there.
He already has one offer coming from Duke, which he was surprised they were the first ones to offer. Other top schools have taken notice and have contacted him. Schools like West Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and Michigan. One school that hasn't recruiting him as hard as he'd like is Memphis. "Memphis is recruiting me but not hard. I don't know why there not recruiting me hard. They have stopped by though. I thought they would be the first to offer me"
He went on to say, "Just because I'm from Memphis doesn't mean they are high on my list but they are on my mind."
The Tigers will get a chance to recruit him more when he attends the Memphis Junior Day. Brunetti said his dad is a big Tiger fan but hasn't pushed him to go to any school. "My parents said it's my choice where I go. They want what is best for me no matter where that's at."
When asked what he'll be doing in the offseason he said working with his receivers and improving on accuracy.
While he claims no favorites, the school that seemed to leave an impression has been West Virginia and Florida. Brunetti said he has a great relationship with the coaches and they have come down to visit and talk about their system. Time will tell whether West Virginia or Florida will emerge as the leader or if hometown Memphis will have a legitimate shot at getting him.
One thing is for certain, Brunetti will have plenty of options.
