Top 2010 recruit updates his status
New Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen has made it a priority to bring in the most talented players in the state.
No doubt one of the top targets on his list for 2010 is West Point lineman Curtis Virges. The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder received a scholarship offer from the Bulldogs in September and since then his popularity has increased across the country.
Virges is also drawing interest from Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Stanford and UCLA but so far MSU is the only one to offer.
So even though the Bulldogs got in early on the Green Wave lineman, does that put them as the clear favorite?
"It's too early to tell," Virges said.
Virges is being recruited by Reed Stringer and said he hears from State at least once a week.
"They sent me letters every week," Virges said. "Basically the letters just say that they want me to come over there."
Virges got his first opportunity to meet with Mullen a couple of weeks ago when he dropped by West Point High School.
