Healthier, faster AU returns to practice
After a couple of days off, Auburn was back at practice Sunday afternoon. The Tigers used the down-time to get healthier as they prepare for Saturday's matchup at No. 1 Alabama.
"We needed it. We needed the rest," AU head coach Tommy Tuberville said. "We pushed them pretty hard last week. It was pretty intense. It's going to even get more intense this week. We've got to find some way to get better in a short period of time."
Tuberville said the time off allowed several injured players to return to practice but only mentioned kicker Wes Byrum by name.
"Most everybody practiced," Tuberville said. "We've still got some guys not full speed.
"(Byrum) kicked good today."
Injuries have hit the defense the hardest but defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads said he saw a much improved unit on the field Sunday.
