Patterson 'coming to a great family'
The good news continues to arrive for Stanford fans, as Jamal Patterson found out last Thursday that he was admitted to Stanford. The 6'3, 201 pound wide receiver from McDonough (GA) Henry County committed to Stanford in August, and he should be one of the top offensive weapons for the Cardinal in the coming years. The Cardinal Report was able to catch up with Jamal earlier today, and discuss the great news.
It was clear from talking to Jamal that he and his family are incredibly excited about this great accomplishment.
"It felt great hearing the news. I am very excited about being able to attend such a prestigious university like Stanford. I feel like I'm coming to a great family at Stanford. This is a perfect fit for me, and I will have a better future because I have Stanford in my future."
Jamal was actually not the first person in his family to hear the great news
"Coach Taggart called and told my mom the news in the morning. My mom didn't want to tell me the news, she kept telling me to call Coach Taggart. The coaches were really excited and they are all excited for this class."
With his senior year finishing up, Jamal and his Henry County teammates are putting together a special season. They recently won their second straight region championship, and will enter the playoffs as the #1 seed.
"Right now we are in the playoffs. My team is filled with talent. With guys like Quan Jones, Keith Wright, Drew Mcmillian, and Markeith Ambles, we have an explosive offense that is averaging 35 points per game. My quarterback Drew Little is having a great season and is coming up on 9,000 yards passing for his career. Stephon Brown (2011 corner back) is big time. I have around 40 catches for 865 yards."
Jamal will continue to take some visits with his teammates, but Stanford fans should know that he is 100% committed to Stanford.
"I'll probably go to some visits with a couple of my buddies on the team. I'll be traveling with my junior teammates (linebackers Donterrius Shannon and John Holland) to other schools for them, but I am totally committed to Stanford."
Like all of the commits, Patterson is very excited for the potential that this class has.
"I talk to Terrence and Josh everyday. I am close with Taysom also. I think this class is great. We want to be a great class and a great team as well. We want to be great on the field as well as in school."
Since securing his commitment, Jamal has been working hard on the recruiting trail.
"I've been talking to Vlad (Vladimir Emilien) and Nigel Thornton. Nigel is taking his visit this weekend with Vlad. I think Frankie (Telfort), Jelani (Jenkins), and Manti (Te'o) will be coming for the visit in January."
The Cardinal Report would like to congratulate Jamal on this tremendous accomplishment. There is no question that he will do special things both on and off the field at Stanford.
