Healthier, happier Tigers return to practice
Auburn needed a break and got it.
After two days off, the Tigers returned to practice Sunday afternoon for what head coach Tommy Tuberville called an intense workout.
"It was a good practice, lot more intensity, which is good. Everybody was a little fresher, glad to be back out there," Tuberville said.
The time off was big for an offense that's still adjusting to the post-Tony Franklin era. It's also important for a defense that allowed 416 total yards to Arkansas after giving up an average of 248.8 yards in the previous six games.
"Today in practice, I felt like I had my legs back," safety Mike McNeil said. "Guys are flying around to the ball a lot better. I think we needed this week to get back, get some bodies recovered."
Auburn was also pretty banged up going into the Arkansas game but Tuberville said Sunday that just about everyone on both sides of the ball was back healthy and ready to go for the West Virginia game except backup defensive end Antoine Carter (ankle) and starting cornerback Jerraud Powers (hamstring), who both missed the Arkansas game.
