Starks Stakes Claim to Challenge Junior Game MVP
October 13, 2008 - Saturday, the DMV vs. Philly Challenge sought to bring a modicum of clarity, if only for the moment, as to which Mid-Atlantic area rules in high school hoops; student athletes in the Washington/Baltimore and Philadelphia areas competed against each other in like-grade classifications. In all, close to 20 already college committed players competed, with a large number of undecided young men destined for college ball also participating.
One of the former group was Markel Starks, the Class of 2010 student athlete that recently committed to Georgetown. Starks' presence was a surprise, given his name being absent from the original roster. Better late than never is the saying, which Markel proved relevant, as he was named MVP of the junior game.
