Buffs dodge a bullet
BOULDER, Colo. - In today's crazy world of college football, a win is a win.
The Buffaloes outscored Eastern Washington, 24-3, in the second half to eek out a seven point win on Saturday afternoon.
It was the second straight time that CU struggled against a championship subdivision opponent. In 2006, the Buffs lost to Montana State in their first game under Coach Dan Hawkins.
Fullback Jake Behrens caught a two-yard touchdown pass with 2:05 left in the game, and then cornerback Cha'pelle Brown returned an interception 27-yards for a score to help CU overcome a 14-point halftime deficit against Eastern Washington.
"Whew. I told you guys they were a good football team," Coach Hawkins said. "They came out fast and made plays and got momentum and we didn't. But despite being down by a little bit of a margin and not having some things go our way, we were able to come back and find a way to win the football game.
"There are always a lot of teams that are on the backside of a loss on a given weekend and fortunately we cane out with a 'W'."
