Louisiana Tech defends home turf
RUSTON, LA., - Louisiana Tech hosted not only it's first Southeastern Conference opponenet in Mississippi State on Saturday but also it's first BCS team since 1968.
Tech took full advantage of the situation with a 22-14 win over MSU.
"It was a great victory for our program," said Louisiana Tech wide receiver Phillip Livas. "We worked all summer and it paid off. It was the first game and everybody was kind of nervous, but we settled down and got our confidence and started making plays."
The loss dropped State's record two 7-3 against Louisiana Tech including the current two-game skid. Tech previously won in Starkville 38-23 in 1996.
Mississippi State's mark in openers also dropped to 74-33-2 including 17-10-1 in lid- lifters on the road.
