Demps is the fastest American teen
While the signing class of 2008 began taking classes at the University of Florida on Monday, incoming freshman running back Jeffrey Demps was still out in Eugene, Oregon where he just finished competing in the U.S. Olympic track and field trials. Though he turned in a valiant effort, it wasn't quite enough to make the Olympic Team. Now he turns his attention toward Florida football. The question is, when will he arrive in Gainesville?
The 10.01 he recorded during Saturday's heat race was the fastest time ever recorded by an American teenager.
"It was great to go out there and run that time," said Demps. "I knew I was going to need an incredible time to advance to the next round and I came out and put up a great time. I was excited about it.
