Wallace gets first taste of the NFL lifestyle
Former Texas A&M center Cody Wallace had a handle on the NFL long before his first mini-camp last week. Wallace had discussed life in the league with guys like Indianapolis Colts safety Melvin Bullitt prior to his selection in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.
As a result, there weren't many surprises for at Wallace.
"I didn't see anything out of the ordinary," Wallace said. "Mel said that the job was pretty professional. The one thing that jumped out at me was the fact that everyone is good at that level. In college, guys are either good or fast. At this level, they've got both. Even the guys that are 340 pounds still have got good speed."
Wallace's first taste of the professional life wasn't all about the physical act of being on the field, but also about the mental aspect of playing in the NFL.
