Harris shines at Derby Festival Classic
Montverde (FL) Academy point guard Dashan Harris bid farewell to a very successful high school career Saturday when he took part in the Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic in Louisville. The 6-foot, 170-pound future Texas A&M Aggie was impressive to say the least at the event.
As is normal in games like there, neither Harris nor Miami Monsignor Pace head coach Mark Lieberman who coached Harris' gold team Saturday knew his stats. But Kentucky fans in attendance sure took notice.
Harris spurned an offer from Kentucky as well as offers from Indiana, USC, Arkansas, California, Florida State and Cincinnati to sign with Texas A&M. The question of "why" was raised by plenty of the Wildcat faithful in attendance in Louisville Saturday night.
Harris' answer was reserved, but powerful in determining A&M's emerging place among the college basketball elite.
