Givens not sure when he will decide
One position the Sooners never seemed to address as fully as some expected in the class of 2008 class was cornerback. It seems that most 'in the know' were a year ahead of themselves as the Sooners have hit the recruiting trail hard in the class of 2009, particularly in their pursuit of talented coverage corners.
Usually such searches stick to places like Oklahoma and Texas but Oklahoma hasn't forgotten the east coast, the home of Darrell Givens of Indian Head (Mary.) Lackey.
Givens, who has been receiving heavy attention, is already in the double-digits for offers and says that it was highlight tape that helped him garner one from Oklahoma.
"I talked to coach Bobby Jack Wright from Oklahoma," Givens said. "He said they were offering it based on what they saw from me on my highlight tape. Actually I received my written offer before I talked any of the coaches at Oklahoma. But coach Wright called me soon after."
