Notebook: AU ready for first scrimmage
Auburn has spent the first four days of practice behind the athletic complex but Saturday morning they'll step inside of Jordan-Hare Stadium for the first time this year as they hold the spring's first scrimmage.
"Tomorrow, we'll have a real good scrimmage and do some kicking game," said AU head coach Tommy Tuberville. "A lot of these guys will be under the gun for the first time. It will be full-go tomorrow."
Tuberville said he hopes to get in about 150 plays with the first-team offense facing the first-team defense, and the second- and third-teams squaring off against each other.
Tuberville said he'll keep a close eye on the quarterbacks and wide receivers on offense.
"This offense, we've got a lot of new stuff in, so there's going to be some mental mistakes," said Tuberville. "Hopefully we'll put together some drives.
"Defensively, it's hard to evaluate these guys until you get to a scrimmage. We'll be looking at the two defensive tackles, the corners. Most of these corners haven't played a whole lot. We've got to find somebody we've got a lot of confidence in."
