Rebels go exploring for 10th win
Ole Miss survived a scare Thursday, but the Rebels picked up another win. The Rebel basketball team will look to continue it's perfect start Friday when Ole Miss meets LaSalle (4-4) at 4:30 p.m.
LaSalle's shooting just 43.5 percent from the field this season, but the Explorers have come on strong as of late.
In its last three games, LaSalle's hit over 50 percent of its field goal tries. However, the Explorers lost two of those games - at Bucknell and at Morgan State - before defeating Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.
Offensively, senior guard Darnell Harris leads the Explorers. Harris is averaging 16.1 points per game, hitting 45 percent of his three-point attempts. Harris has led the team in scoring five times, including back-to-back 25-point games against Bucknell and Morgan State.
In the Explorers' win over Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, freshman forward Jerrell Williams led LaSalle with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Seven other players, including Williams' twin brother Terrell Williams, scored in double figures in the 117-86 win.
The Rebels (9-0) picked up their ninth win rallying late against DePaul for a 69-63 win. For the third-straight game, Ole Miss struggled to shoot the basketball.
Against DePaul, the Rebels hit on 34 percent from the field, but it was solid second-half defense that pushed Ole Miss to a win.
Dwayne Curtis finished with 21 points, Kenny Williams grabbed 16 rebounds and Chris Warren's 11 points all came in the second half.
The Rebels held the Blue Demons to just six field goals in the second half.
After playing LaSalle Friday, the Rebels face No. 15 Clemson on Saturday before returning back to Mississippi. Clemson defeated Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 90-73 Thursday.
