Seniors perplexed on season-ending loss
Darrell Blackman couldn't believe how hard it was walking through the tunnel at Carter-Finley Stadium for the last time.
The North Carolina State senior was part of a 19-member class who played their last game for the Wolfpack. The bewildered group couldn't believe what had transpired, losing 37-0 to Maryland to finish their season at 5-7 and ending their careers without one more bowl trip.
All the seniors could do is reflect on what could have been.
"Now, that it is over, it is just time to recap my season and my career here, and just move on," Blackman said.
Fourteen of the seniors are on pace to graduate next month, others hope for a shot at a professional career. Six seniors started on offense, and five on defense against the Terrapins, plus valuable kicker Steven Hauschka. The majority of the seniors saw action, including linebacker Guerlin Dervil for the first time this year.
