Smith gets a visit from Michigan coach
One of the sometimes forgotten aspects of a coaching change is the effects it has on the ongoing recruiting efforts of a program. Before Lloyd Carr announced his retirement as the head coach at the University of Michigan, New Brunswick, N.J., athlete Brandon Smith was one of the Wolverines' top targets who could step in at a major position of need.
Michigan was also one of Smith's favorite schools since early in the process and Carr was one of the aspects about the program he appreciated. Monday's announcement that Carr would retire was not what he wanted to see happen, but he also understood it and looks forward to the next steps Michigan will take.
