Kennedy handing the keys to Warren
In Ole Miss head coach Andy Kennedy's first year, he knew he'd be able to count on Todd Abernethy.
It's the advantage of having an experienced point guard. You hand him the keys to the offense, and he drives it.
This year, it's different - a lot different.
"Last year, we put a lot of emphasis on point guard play and gave a lot of responsibility to Todd," Kennedy said. "This year's a lot different."
Kennedy will look to his veteran frontcourt and players who've been in the system like David Huertas and Eniel Polynice.
But with the Rebels' season opener against Mississippi Valley State at 2 p.m. Saturday, Kennedy's getting ready to give the keys to his offense to a much less experienced driver than Abernethy- freshman Chris Warren.
"Unless something changes drastically, he's penciled in as the starter," Kennedy said.
Warren started for the Rebels in their exhibition win over Delta State, Warren shined with 17 points, nine assists and four rebounds.
