In-state Jr. DT holding the line
True defensive tackles are always at a premium, and south Alabama will be a popular location for 2009 recruiting as 6-foot-3, 290-pound Jamar Travis is dominating Class 4A competition week after week.
Travis begin making waves among the high school scene as a freshman starter for W.S. Neal High School in Brewton, Al.
"Jamar has gotten physically stronger and improved his play every year," said W.S. Neal coach Blaine Hatchcock, whose squad sits at 4-3 on the season. "Jamar is also a kid of excellent character and an extremely hard worker."
Travis has received letters and recruiting attention from a number of schools including Auburn, where he camped this summer, and Alabama.
"Auburn really liked what they saw of Jamar," said Hathcock. "Alabama is aware of him as well and send him letters regularly.
