Insider: Booty to start when healthy, Sark says
Steve Sarkisian could not have been clearer.
"When he's healthy, he's our starting quarterback," USC's offensive coordinator said of John David Booty. "He's just not healthy yet."
He might be by Saturday, when USC takes on Notre Dame, in South Bend, Ind.
Booty practiced for the first time since chipping his middle finger tip against Stanford on Oct. 6. Sophomore Mark Sanchez got the starter's reps, but Booty was next in line against the scout-team defense and during seven-on-seven drills.
With a glove on his right hand - and the splint on his finger gone - Booty looked sharp. He was accurate, although some passes were a touch lower than he would have liked, and he said his velocity was good.
