Jump balls by design
Sure, quarterback Julian Edelman completed only 12 of 25 passes for 169 yards in a 33-25 win at Ohio on Saturday, but he executed the game plan to perfection.
The Golden Flashes entered the game in Athens with the goal of attacking Ohio's man coverage, knowing one of three things could happen-an incomplete pass, a long reception or a penalty on the defense.
"Our plan was to throw the ball deep against all that man coverage and really force them to be good or get pass interference," said Kent State head coach Doug Martin. "I think they were getting frustrated; our receivers were getting behind them."
Edelman completed long passes to Shawn Bayes, Aaron Robinson, Phil Garner, Rashad Tukes and Alan Vanderink.
