Smelley prepared to ignite USC offense

GamecockCentral.com Chris Smelley acknowledges he didn't really know what he was doing last year when he faced Mississippi State as a true freshman in the season opener.
This year, he says, the circumstances will be completely different when he takes the field as South Carolina's starting quarterback against the defensive-minded Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.
"I feel good. I think we'll be ready on Saturday," Smelley said following USC's two-hour, 15-minue workout on the Bluff Road practice fields.
"We've been putting in a lot of effort getting ready for Mississippi State. Things didn't work out last week but we hope we can prepare this week and get the win. Last year, I wasn't expecting to play and probably had no clue to what I was doing out there. So, I definitely feel a lot more comfortable this year."
