If that wasn't rock bottom for Notre Dame last week in Michigan Stadium, the footing sure was mighty unstable. Like loose gravel.
The Irish sunk to new depths in a 38-0 loss, and other than a mere 7-0 deficit in the second half and some decent running by sophomore halfback James Aldridge, there wasn't much to hang your hat on, particularly with an opponent on deck that has had so much success against Notre Dame in recent years.
Michigan State (3-0)-winners over Alabama-Birmingham (55-18), Bowling Green (28-17) and Pittsburgh (17-13)-has defeated the Irish seven of the last 10 meetings, including the last five in Notre Dame Stadium.
