Game Day Preview: KSU at ISU
After winning five straight games in the middle of the 2006 season, Kent State lost four of its final five contests to finish with a 6-6 mark; good for the fourth biggest turnaround in the country after finishing just 1-10 in 2005.
Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. CDT, the Golden Flashes have their first chance of the 2007 season to build on the success of last season when they meet Iowa State at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa.
The Cyclones struggled to a 4-8 mark last fall but return several all-Big 12 performers and last November they introduced new head coach Gene Chizik, the former defensive coordinator at Texas. Expectations are high in Ames, but it remains to be seen how quickly Chizik can improve a team that finished near the bottom of the national rankings on both sides of the ball.
