Dawgs hold dress rehearsal for game one
The Georgia Bulldogs spent all of Wednesday afternoon's practice preparing for season opener by walking through the plays and situations they think will happen Saturday. Practicing in just shorts and helmets, the number one offense and defense prepared for Oklahoma State by going against the scout team.
The big news of the day regarded the tight position and who will start. Tight Ends Coach David Johnson said on Wednesday that he plans to start true freshman Bruce Figgins in game one with redshirt freshman NaDerris Ward serving as his backup. When starting tight end Tripp Chandler comes off his suspension he should retain the starting job.
Running Backs Coach Tony Ball will start Thomas Brown, but he did not say who will be the second running back off the bench. Kregg Lumpkin or Knowshon Moreno could end up getting the next series or touch after Brown.
"It depends on the situation," said Coach Ball about if Lumpkin or Moreno is number two. "Knowshon could in second if they situation is right. I see him working more in specific situations right now."
Backup fullback and tailback Jason Johnson is questionable for the game with a neck injury. Either redshirt freshman Shaun Chapas or redshirt freshman Fred Munzenmaier might fill at fullback if they are needed to sub for Brannan Southerland.
