Countdown to kickoff: Thursday's practice report
Ted Larsen knows he is one play away from being a starter.
Defensive tackle is one of the most violent positions with action flying around with the offensive linemen, fullback and possibly the tight end coming to block them from all angles. Injuries are always a worry.
"People can go down, and we aren't very deep at the defensive tackle position," Larsen said. "You always have to be ready to pick up the slack where it is needed."
Larsen, a redshirt sophomore, started three games last year at defensive tackle because of injuries. If the situation occurs again, he's ready.
"It was a good experience getting the starts last year," said Larsen, who started against Boston College, Virginia and Clemson. "Going out and playing against a Virginia or Clemson, that is some big ACC starts.
