Bye-bye Tailback U

USCFootball.com Remember Tailback U? Well, forget it for now.
Senior Chauncey Washington, sitting comfortably as USC's No. 1 ball carrier, injured his shoulder during Wednesday night's scrimmage, after rushing for 74 yards and a touchdown on three carries. The extent of his injury was unknown, immediately following the scrimmage.
If the season started right now, the depth chart would read something like this: Stafon Johnson, Allen Bradford, Desmond Reed.
"It's a good thing we have depth," running backs coach Todd McNair said with a chuckle.
From that original stable of 10 backs:
-Emmanuel Moody has transferred;
-C.J. Gable is out with a sore groin;
-Freshman Broderick Green is out until the Clearinghouse approves his enrollment, because the two-week practice window the NCAA granted him has closed;
-Marc Tyler and Hershel Dennis remain sidelined with leg injuries.
